"My grace is sufficient for you..."
God's grace is sufficient---not sometimes, not maybe, or occasionally---is sufficient. Not sufficient as in just enough, but sufficient as in lacking nothing. I like what Matthew Henry says, "The goodwill of God towards us, and this is enough to enlighten and enliven us, sufficient to strengthen and comfort us, to support our souls and cheer up our spirits, in all afflictions and distresses."
I find it amazing when Bryan calls my name in the middle of the night, I am wide awake and able to serve as if it were the middle of the day. I've been awakened in the middle of the night many times these past 20 years and nine children, but I never recall this same wakefulness. Then, to return to a full, deep restful sleep, that is the grace of God!
Please pray the bleeding stops, that it is minor and he won't need another transfusion. Pray for encouragement for him in the midst of this trial. We also ask for his hiccups to stop once and for all; July 1 was his first hiccup.

Father God,
We come to you in Jesus name, boldy because of what Jesus has done for us on the cross. We know that you love Bryan even more than we do... even more than Susan and his children love him. We are trusting you to hold him close today. You, who are the Great Physician, please take the hiccups away, stop the bleeding and destroy the infection. We know your grace is sufficient. Let Susan, Bryan and each one of their children experience that grace today in an abundant way. We thank you for the answers, knowing that they come.

Bryan, Susan, and precious children,
You all are frequently in our prayers begging that He indeed would answer these requests and encourage your hearts in Him. I don't often use the Amplified Bible, but it was handy when I looked up II Cor 12:9. It rendered the verse, "But He said to me, My grace-My favor and loving-kindness and mercy - are enough for you, [that is, sufficient against any danger and to enable you to bear the trouble manfully]; for My strength and power are made perfect - fulfilled and completed and sow themselves most effective - in [your] weakness. Therefore, I will all the more gladly glory in my weakness and infirmities, that the strength and power of Christ, the Messiah, may rest - yes may pitch a tent [over] and dwell - upon me!" May Christ pitch His tent of Loving-Kindness over you all and may you like the author and perfecter of our faith endure this cross for the joy set before you. May we all see Christ more fully because we have passed through this season. We love you all and will continue to pray for His grace and mercy.

That part about "not sufficient as in 'JUST enough', but sufficient as in 'LACKING NOTHING'"...Wow! A powerful insight! I'll need to ponder that for a while.
That is incredible that you are brought to full alertness in the middle of your sleep. God is truly by your side, watching over you and giving you a supernatural ability to serve well, hour-by-hour, just as He planned from the beginning. How cool.
Man, I never disliked hiccups as I dislike hearing of them now. They never seemed quite so painful/burdensome/tiring as they do to me now. Oh, for Bryan, longing for the days when an occasional hiccup would bring surprise and a laugh! Oh my heart breaks...? (I'm not sure what exactly...) for what you both are going through, physically...mentally... Spiritually, you both have the eternal perspective, and above all things, HOPE. And eternal life. I guess that's always been the most important thing and remains the most important thing, thanks be to God. God bless you both tonight and this week.

I'm reminded of the gospel story of the woman with the issue of blood for many years. Jesus is the same as He was then, when He stopped the blood flow by a touch (the woman touching His clothes). Praying for that same miracle for you today.

I cannot find words to express the sorrow and frustration that I know you and your family are enduring. I can only sit on your sorrow bench and try to accompany you on your journey.

Susan, every time I see you I am amazed at your strength, courage, and wisdom. You are resting in the arms of Jesus... that is so inspiring. Your husband is blessed to have you by his side, and I'm sure he knows it and appreciates it more than words can say.
